What can you tell me about Boston Pizza?

The first Boston Pizza was in Edmonton in 1964.
In the United States, Boston Pizza is called Boston’s – The Gourmet Pizza.
They also have restaurants in Mexico.
There are over 380 restaurants in Canada.
In addition to Pizza, the restaurant offers pasta, burgers, sandwiches, ribs, salads, sides, and desserts. They also offer a gluten-wise menu.
They run the BP foundation that raises funds that help support children and families in need.

Why do you want to work at Boston Pizza?

If you are going to university tell them you think Boston Pizza will be a great way to pay for school.
Mention you like that the fact that it is listed as a Great Place to Work Certified, and one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.
Tell them you have a passion for food and the restaurant industry in general.

How would you define great customer service?

Great service is when the food is delivered on time, fresh, and made exactly the way the customer wanted it.
The server is polite and courteous and never leaves the customer waiting.
Great service also happens when you go out of your way for the customer. For example, I recently asked for an item that is no longer on the menu. The server said they would ask the kitchen if they could make it. The kitchen did make the product and I left feeling very happy (the item was the Bacon Double Cheeseburger Boston Stromboli).

What experience do you have?

Let the interviewer know about any restaurant experience you have.
If you don’t have restaurant experience, perhaps you have experience dealing with customers or working under pressure (if so tell them).
If you don’t have any work experience state you have been focusing on your education and now you are anxious to prove yourself in the workforce.

What are your salary requirements?

This is a stressful question because if you ask for too much, you will not get the job, and if you ask for too little, they will happily underpay you.
Be sure to research salary expectations for your role before you go into the interview. There are plenty of sites that discuss salary ranges.
If you don’t know what to say then ask what the salary range is? You can then counter with the high end of the range.

Why do you want to be a server?

Possible answers are:

Say you enjoy the challenge of working under pressure.

Finally, state you are excellent at multitasking and can easily handle multiple food orders.

How do you spend your downtime?

Say you will ask if anyone else needs any help.

Are you flexible with your hours?

Be as flexible as possible in regards to the hours you can work. If you are applying for a position as a cook remember Boston Pizza makes its own pizza dough.
When I worked there they started making the dough at 6 a.m.
If you want to work nights I suggest looking into their closing time and being able to work a little after closing time as they will want help cleaning the restaurant.

Can you drive?

Pizza delivery generates a lot of revenue for Boston Pizza. Be sure to tell the interviewer that you are interested or, at least, open to being a delivery driver. Do not tell them you are interested in delivering pizza for tips. Note they usually ask this of dishwashers.

What temperature do you need to maintain so bacteria will not form?

You need to maintain a temperature colder than 41° F (7°C) or hotter than 135°F (60°C).

How do you cook a steak?

Steaks can be served raw, well done, medium, medium-rare, and rare. Mention you use the finger test to prepare a stake.
