    • If you have restaurant experience, talk about it. Most job descriptions will say, “6 months experience in a full-service restaurant preferred”.

    • As a host, you will often be dealing with customers who have been waiting for a table for a long time. If they become upset apologize to the customer for having to wait so long and give them a new estimate on how much longer the wait will be.

    • If the customer is still upset say you would escalate the issue to your manager and see if there was anything else they could do. Finally, state it is important to keep a customer happy, as an unhappy customer will never return.

    • Try to think of a situation that does not show a personal weakness. For example, suppose you spent time during your lunch hour with your colleagues. One of the colleges was very negative and as a result, made others negative which resulted in many of those colleges changing jobs. State you felt you should have tried to spin the situation around and bring up positive aspects of the job.
