What is your greatest weakness?

  • It would help if you did not deny you have a weakness or state strengths as a weakness. For example, do not say “I am a perfectionist” or “I work too hard and neglect my friends and family”. State a fault required for the role but not a dealbreaker if you don’t have it.

Customer Service Interview Questions

How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • Listen and let the customer vent.
  • Show the customer you care.
  • Don’t blame the customer or the company.
  • Try to solve the problem or find someone who can.
  • Don’t make promises you can’t keep.
  • Finally, one must not take it personally.  If you get upset, you will take it out on future customers.

How would you define great customer service?

  • The staff is friendly and helpful to the customers.
  • The entire restaurant is clean. This includes the kitchen, front of the house, and bathrooms.
  • Food is delivered on time made to order.
  • The games are in working order.

Tell us about a time you went above and beyond for a customer?

  • Customers love it when you go above and beyond for them, which will, in turn, generate more business. Try to think of a time when you went above and beyond for a customer. For example, when I was a server at a restaurant, we did not have a specific dessert in the restaurant. Luckily, the restaurant next door had it and I got it for the customer.   
  • Here’s another example: I worked at a fast-food chain in my last job.  There was a senior citizen at the restaurant and he had finished his meal. The rain started, and he started to worry because he didn’t have an umbrella. Luckily, I had an umbrella, so I walked him to his car, sheltering him from the rain.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • If going to college or university state what you would like to be doing after you finish.
  • If you would like to stay at Chuck E. Cheese’s state you would like a career in restaurant management.

Why should I hire you?

Interview Attire

  • Remember you want to look like someone who can serve food so if you have long hair wear it back and don’t wear any jewelry.
  • Remove or trim any facial hair.
  • Dress formally or business casual at the very least.

Second Interview

  • If you have a second interview it will more than likely be with the manager.  Using social media find out if you have common interests with the manager and mention those interests during the second interview.

Cast Member Interview Questions

Can you tell us about your previous work history?

  • What they want to hear is how your previous work experience relates to the position of a cast member. If you have experience in handling cash, hosting parties, working with children, and working in a restaurant mention that first.
  • If you don’t have any experience tell them you have been focusing on school and now you are anxious to prove yourself in the workforce.

  • Say you love the product, enjoy working with children, and like the challenge of working under pressure.

For this question, you want to reread the job description and find the key skills they are looking for.  If you have those skills tell them.  After having a second read of the job description below is what I found.

  • Our Cast Members are empowered to provide the greatest service anywhere through cross-training in a variety of different positions, allowing our Cast Members to learn new skills that will help further their career opportunities with Chuck E. Cheese’s. (skill: quick learner)
  • Assisting in providing a safe, fun, and clean environment for all our guests. (skill: attention to detail)
  • Help create lasting magical memories for our guests. Party hosts/hostesses do the work so that Mom and Dad can relax and enjoy the party. (skill: people skills)
  • Utilizing our unique Kid Check system to ensure that “all Guests that come together leave together.” (skill: attention to detail)

Can you tell us about your previous work history?

  • They want to know how your previous work history relates to the position of assistant manager.  If you have experience working in restaurants, managing others, and experience with customers then mention that first.

Why do you want to be an assistant manager?

  • Say you enjoy the challenge and feel you are a good coach and leader.
  • Say you want a job that will keep you active.

Why should I hire you?

For this question, you want to reread the job description find key skills they are looking for, and state that you have those skills.  Here are the skills I found in the description

  • Coaching and development (skill: leadership)
  • Effective communication (skill: communication)
  • Time and priority management (skill: time management)
  • Problem-solving and decision-making (skill: analytical)

So when asked why should I hire you I would say

  • Mention you have great leadership skills and will coach and develop other team members.
  • Say you have excellent communication skills
  • State you have strong time management skills.
  • Finally, say you are analytical and will be able to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.

How do you motivate your team?

  • People often say money is a great motivator but that is not always the case.  Simple praise will go a long way.  I always make sure to complement other team members often.

What salary are you looking for?

  • There are plenty of sites online to calculate your salary.  Be sure to do your salary research before the interview and be ready to answer this question.
  • You can always flip the question and ask what is the salary range.
