  • Its vision is to remain to be the leader in the family restaurant segment by making pleasurable dining affordable for every guest, at every restaurant, every day.

3. Why do you want to work for Golden Corral?

  • Say you love the product and the service you get and because of this, you would be proud to represent them.
  • Say you want a job that keeps you active.
  • You can mention you feel they offer exceptional value for the customers.

4. Please give examples of when you have given a customer an outstanding experience?

When a customer gets an outstanding experience they tend to be repeat customers.  Here are some examples of outstanding customer experiences I have witnessed in the past

  • One time a customer requested a dessert that was not on the menu. The waiter got the dessert from a competing restaurant across the street.
  • If parents bring their children this restaurant gave a tour of the kitchen to give the parents a break.
  • When the restaurant is extremely busy the customer is always treated in a friendly and welcoming manner.

5. What is your greatest strength?

  • I am a quick learner (this is a great answer because they will have to spend less time training you)
  • I work well under pressure (this is a great answer because all restaurants have their rush hour and you need to stay focused during this time)

6. What is your greatest weakness?

  • It would help if you did not deny you have a weakness or state strengths as a weakness. For example, do not say “I am a perfectionist” or “I work too hard and neglect my friends and family”. State a fault required for the role but not a dealbreaker if you don’t have it.
  • When you state your weakness, make sure you say what you are doing to overcome that weakness. For example, I have a fear of public speaking and enrolled in a public speaking class to overcome my fear.

7. How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • Listen and let the customer vent.
  • Show the customer you care.
  • Don’t blame the customer or the company.
  • Try to solve the problem or find someone who can.
  • Don’t make promises you can’t keep.
  • Finally, one must not take it personally.  If you get upset, you will take it out on future customers.

8. Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • If going to college or university state what you would like to be doing after you finish.
  • If you say you would like a job in restaurant management or perhaps become a chef, you sound like you are willing to work there for the long haul and you are not a job hopper.

Why should we hire you as a server?

  • They will want someone who works well under pressure, is a team player, a good communicator, and a good listener.

A possible answer to this question is

  • Say you work well under pressure and will be able to handle the lunch and evening rush hours.
  • State you are a team player, and will always help other coworkers.
  • Mention you have excellent communication skills which will allow you to work well with customers.

If you could be one animal what would it be?

  • You will want to choose an animal that is fast, as servers are quick on their feet. Also, pick an animal that is friendly as servers need to be good with customers.

What would you do if you knew a fellow co-worker was stealing?

  • Say you would tell your manager as it is important that the restaurant makes a profit.  If the restaurant does not make a profit it will go out of business and we will all be out of work.

How would you go about making a customer feel welcome in our restaurant?

  • If the customer asked for something that was not on the menu I would see if the kitchen could make an exception.
  • If the customer had children I would see if I could give the parents some free time, and take the children for a tour of the kitchen (if the restaurant is not too busy)

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

  • If you don’t know what to say have a look at other jobs at Golden Corral and find a position you can see yourself doing in five years.  This will make you sound like you are a good fit for the industry.

How would you define a successful server?

  • They are friendly and good with people.
  • Servers work well under pressure.
