How do you feel about standing on your feet for long periods?

  • Most restaurant jobs require you to work on your feet for long periods. If possible, let the interviewer know you do not have a problem with this. Wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes with low heels, maintain good posture, and stay hydrated.

For this question, you want to reread the job description, find key skills they are looking for, and match those skills to your own.  After rereading the job description below is what I found:

  • Work in a team-oriented, high-volume, fast-paced, guest-centric environment to deliver on our purpose of Hospitaliano (skill required: teamwork, and hospitality)
  • Demonstrating genuine hospitality and setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience by making every single guest feel welcome at the door (skill required: communication)
  • Managing restaurant waiting list during high volume to accurately set guest expectations (skill required: work under pressure)

A possible answer is

  • Say you have great teamwork skills and will work well with the servers.
  • State you are very hospitable and will always greet the customers in a friendly manner which will reflect well on the Olive Garden.
  • Mention you thrive when working under pressure.

What hours can you work?

  • The more flexible you are with your hours, the better your chance of getting hired, so be flexible!
