2. What can you tell us about Second Cup?

  • Second Cup began in 1975.
  • In addition to coffee, Second Cup offers food and beverages.  Beverages include Espressos, Whole Leaf Teas, and Lattes.
  • Customers can use their Second Cup Coffee Card and top up their balance online.
  • In 2017, Second Cup started to offer Pinkberry which is frozen yogurt.
  • Second Cup coffee comes from producers that are Fair Trade Certified and Rainforest Alliance Certified.

3. Why do you want to work for Second Cup?

6. How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • I would find out what is wrong with the customer. If it was the product I would offer to replace it (mention you would check with your manager first) it is important to keep the customer happy as an unhappy customer will never return.

7. Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • If going to college or university state what you would like to be doing after you finish.
  • If you don’t have a five-year career plan, then browse jobs on popular employment websites and find something you would love to do in five years.

8. How do you feel about standing on your feet all day?

  • If possible tell the interviewer you do not have a problem with this as most jobs in restaurants will require you to work on your feet for long periods. Try to wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes with low heels, maintain good posture, and stay hydrated.

9. Why did you leave your last job?

Interviewers ask this question for the following reasons.

  • Did you leave for a good reason?
  • Did you leave voluntarily?
  • Did you leave on good terms?
  • What are your work values?

The only good answer is you are not growing or learning and feel it is time to move on.
