Can you tell us about your previous work experience?

  • What they want to hear is how your previous work experience matches the experience required to be a team member. If you have experience working with customers or any restaurant experience now is the time to mention it.
  • If you do not have any experience, tell them you have been focusing on school and now you are anxious to prove yourself in the workforce.

Why do you want to be a team member?

  • Say you are a people person, which will allow you to work well with other team members and customers.
  • Say you would like a challenging job that will keep you active and you think a career in Taco Bell is exactly that.

Why should we hire you?

For this question, you need to have a second read of the job description and find key skills they are looking for and restate those skills. Here is what I found after reading the job description

  • You enjoy people and providing friendly, accurate service to customers as well as your teammates and managers (skill required: communication skills)
  • You’ll also prepare and store food ingredients, assemble food and beverage orders, check to make sure they’re correct, package products, and maintain a clean, safe work and dining environment. (skill required: attention to detail)
  • Working well with teammates and accepting coaching from the management team. (skills required: teamwork)

So when asked why I should hire you I would say

  • Say you have excellent communication skills which will allow you to work well with customers.
  • State you pay great attention to detail and will always make food exactly the way the customer wants it. Follow up with the fact that you understand the need to keep the restaurant clean as appearance is everything to customers.
  • Finally, mention you have great teamwork skills which will allow you to work well with other coworkers.

What hours can you work?

  • The more flexible you are with your hours, the better your chance of getting hired, so be flexible!
  • Let the interviewer know if you can work on weekends and holidays.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • If you are going to college say what you plan on doing in five years.
  • If you say a career in restaurant management you will sound like a good fit for Taco Bell.
