Why should I hire you?

For this question, you need to revisit the job description and find skills or attributes they are looking for then restate those skills during the interview. Here is what I found:

  • Answering Customer calls promptly and answering register calls promptly (tip they are looking for someone who works well but works fast!)
  • Being knowledgeable about register operations and operating the register when needed. (They are looking for someone who is good with math and a quick learner)
  • Ensuring the merchandise is properly signed and priced. (attention to detail)

So to answer why should I hire you state:

  • Say you work with great speed and accuracy and will be sure to answer and register customer calls promptly.
  • State you are strong at math and you are a quick learner and will not have difficulty operating the cash register or point of sale system.
  • Finally, say you pay great attention to detail and will make sure items are correctly priced.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

This question is designed to see if you are a good fit for Walmart so your five-year plan should align with Walmart’s business objectives.

  • State you would like a career in retail or retail management. Better yet Walmart is a huge corporation so have a look at other opportunities and find a position you can see yourself doing in five years. This way you will not appear as a job hopper.

What hours can you work?

  • The more flexible you are with your hours, the better your chance of getting hired, so be flexible!
  • Let the interviewer know you can work on weekends and/or holidays if possible.
