2. What can you tell us about Wawa?

About Wawa

  • Wawa is a gas and convenience store that is located on the east coast.
  • Wawa offers fresh food, coffee and beverages, dairy, and fuel.
  • As of 2022, there are over 950 convenience stores (500 have gas stations).
  • Wawa stores are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Central Florida.
  • They offer no-surcharge ATMs.

3. Why do you want to work for Wawa?

  • Say you have great people skills which will allow you to work well with customers.
  • Say you like the product and the service and because of this, you would be happy to represent them.

4. What are Wawa’s Six Core Values

  • Values People, Delight Customers, Embrace Change, do things right, and have a passion for winning.

5. What is your greatest strength?

  • I am a quick learner (this is a great answer because they will have to spend less time training you) or
  • I work well under pressure (this is a great answer because Wawa will get extremely busy sometimes and you need to stay focused).

6. What is your greatest weakness?

Example

My greatest weakness is I take criticism too personally. I have learned to resist overreacting and to reflect on what someone said. I have found that I have become a better employee when I learn from feedback.

7. How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • I would find out what is wrong with the customer. If it was the product I would offer to replace it (mention you would check with your manager first).  It is important to keep the customer happy as an unhappy customer will never return.

8. Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • If going to college or university state what you would like to be doing after you finish.
  • Alternatively, you can have a look at Wawa Jobs and find a job you can see yourself doing in five years (this way you will not sound like you are a job hopper).

9. Why should Wawa hire you?

  • I work hard, I am a quick learner, and I am punctual.

10. Who are Wawa’s competitors?

  • Wawa’s competitors include Sheetz, 7-Eleven, and Royal Farms.

11. What hours can you work?

  • The more flexible you are with your hours, the better your chance of getting hired, so be flexible!
  • Let the interviewer know you can work on weekends and/or holidays if possible.

12. How do you feel about standing for long periods?

  • Most jobs in retail will require you to work on your feet for long periods. If possible, tell the interviewer you do not have a problem with this. Wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes with low heels, maintain good posture, and stay hydrated.

13. How was your attendance at your last job?

  • Be honest when answering this question as the interviewer may check references.
  • Emphasize that you understand the importance of starting your shift on time.

14. Why did you leave your last job?

  • Do not say for money.
  • The commute was too long.

 Wawa Interview Tips

  • Arrive 5 minutes early.
  • Dress formally or at the very least business casual.
  • Don’t speak too fast as you will sound nervous.
