Why do you want to be a cashier?

  • Say you will enjoy the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment.

Why should I hire you?

  • Say you are a quick learner and will not have any issues learning the products or the point-of-sale system.
  • Mention you work well under pressure without losing attention to detail.
  • State you have great people skills and enjoy working with customers.
  • Finally, say you are great at multitasking and will be able to deal with multiple orders and customers.

How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • If the customer was upset with the product I would offer to replace it.
  • I would apologize if the customer was upset because they were waiting in line for a long period of time.
  • If the customer leaves unhappy, odds are they will never come back so customer satisfaction is my number one priority.
  • Finally, tell the interviewer you would tell the manager and make note of the problem for continuous improvement.

  • Let the interviewer know if you can work on weekends and holidays.
