McDonald’s Crew Member Interview Questions

Why do you want to be a crew member?

  • State you feel you have excellent communication skills which will allow you to excel as a crew member when dealing with customers.

Why should I hire you?

First, have a second read the job description to find skills they are looking for and match those skills to your own. Below is what I found after rereading the job description:

  • A Crew Member has three main responsibilities: Customer Service, Food Preparation and Cleanliness, and Hygiene. (skill required: attention to detail, and communication skills)

  • Good customer service skills are integral to the way we do things here at McDonald’s. You’ll be expected to provide our customers with quick and accurate service and show sensitivity to their individual needs (skill required: works well under pressure)

So asked why should I hire you state:

  • Say you pay great attention to detail which will allow you to excel in food safety and food preparation.

  • Say you are a quick learner and I will not have an issue learning all of McDonald’s products.

  • Let the interviewer know if you can work on weekends and holidays.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • This question is asked to see if you have goals but, more importantly, to see if you are a good fit for a position as a crew member.  If you state you can see yourself in restaurant management then you will sound like you are a good fit for the position.
  • Tip!!! Before your interview, have a look at other job opportunities at McDonald’s has and find a position you can see yourself doing in five years as they don’t want to hire someone who will quit in a few weeks. If you appear you are willing to stay at McDonald’s for more than six months then they won’t mind training you.

  • My communication skills.   My ability to communicate well allows me to work well with a team and with customers.

What is your favorite part about working at McDonald’s?

  • State you will enjoy the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment.

Do you think fast service or helpful service is better?

  • There is no wrong answer to this question. However, you need to make sure your answers are well thought out. McDonald’s is considered a quick-service restaurant and people expect to be served food promptly so that is why fast service is important. Helpful service will keep the customer happy and make the customer feel listened to which will increase the odds for a repeat visit.

How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • Listen and let the customer vent.
  • Show the customer you care.
  • Don’t blame the customer or the company.
