McDonalds Job Application

Applying for jobs at McDonald’s has never been easier.   You no longer have to apply in person as you can do it online.

However, there are a few important tips to remember when applying for a job at McDonald’s.

Follow these tips to put your McDonalds Job Application ahead of the competition.

How to fill out McDonald’s application Online

1# Location

When sending in your Mcdonald’s Job Application try to apply to the closest restaurant to where you live.  Employers will always take into consideration the distance you travel to work.  In fact, a study conducted by the University of Waterloo discovered that people with the longest commutes have the lowest overall satisfaction with life.

Applying to the nearest McDonald’s is important especially if you don’t have a car.  In fact, some of the applications ask upfront if you have transportation.  If you don’t have transportation then they may favor someone who lives closer or has transportation of their own.

2# Personal Information

I want to focus on your email in the personal information section.  To some, this may be obvious but make sure you use an email that clearly states your name.  If you have a funny email instead of a valid address they will more than likely disregard your application.  In fact, Marc Cenedella from theladders.com lists this as his number 1 rule that will make your resume unprofessional.

3# Availability

Nobody wants to work on a Friday night and nobody wants to be at work by 5 a.m. However, many McDonald’s today are open 24 hours so it is important to be flexible when choosing what hours you want to work.   McDonald’s’s are usually broken into 4 shifts: Breakfast (5 am to 10:30 am), Lunch (10:30 am to 3:30 pm), Dinner (3:30 pm to 8:30 pm), and Overnight (8:30 pm to 5:30 am).  Instead of working the hours everybody wants, ask yourself what hours are hard to fill and if can I work those hours.  Selecting hard-to-fill hours will put you ahead of the competition.

4# Annual Salary Requirement

Most of the jobs posted on the McDonald’s website display the salary range.  In the Mcdonald’s job application, I would make sure my request is in that range.  If no range is posted, then odds are entry-level jobs will pay minimum wage and non-entry-level jobs will pay just a bit more.  You can always search the web to find salary ranges at McDonald’s.

5# Social

Don’t just sit back and wait after you have submitted your application.   The next step is to go to Facebook and find people who work or used to work at McDonald’s.  When you log in to Facebook type in phrases such as:

  • People who used to work at McDonald’s
  • People who work at McDonald’s in 2016
  • Crew at McDonald’s
  • Assistant managers at McDonald’s

If you have a connection,  send them a quick note to tell them that you recently applied for a job at McDonald’s.  Hopefully, your friend will write to their acquaintance, and tell them what a great worker/person you are.
