  • As of 2023, the SUBWAY brand is the world’s largest submarine sandwich chain, with more than 37,000 locations worldwide.
  • In addition to sandwiches, they sell breakfast, salads, and sides.
  • The menu has an 8 under 6 item, which means they offer 8 subs with 6 grams of fat or under.
  • The Subway brand’s most popular sandwich is the Italian B.M.T, Tuna, and the Subway Club.

2. Why do you want to work at Subway?

  • Mention you have a passion for food and cooking in general.
  • Say you enjoy the thought of working in a restaurant with lots of healthy food choices.
  • Also, mention you will enjoy the challenge of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

3. Why should I hire you?

  • Reread the job description and find the skills and experience required for the position.
  • Next, match the skills required for the job to your skill set.
  • Finally, reassure the interviewer you have the right skills.

4. What hours can you work?

  • The more flexible you are with your hours, the better your chance of getting hired, so be flexible!
  • Let the interviewer know if you can work on weekends and holidays.

5. What work experience do you have?

  • Talk about any related experience you have. More specifically, talk about any customer or restaurant experience you have.

6. What does BMT stand for?

7. How do you greet a customer?

  • State you greet them with a smile and always welcome them to Subway.

8. Do you have a criminal record?

  • Be honest and tell the truth.

9. What is your greatest strength?

  • The best way to respond to this question is to describe the skills and experience that directly correlate with the job you are applying for. With this in mind, review the job description and reassure the interviewer that you have the expertise and skills to do the job.

10. What is your greatest weakness?

  • Do not deny you have a weakness or state a strength as a weakness. For example, do not say, “I am a perfectionist” or “I work too hard and neglect my friends and family.” State a fault required for the role but not a dealbreaker if you don’t have it.
  • When stating your weakness, explain what you are doing to overcome it. For example, I have a fear of public speaking and enrolled in a public speaking class to overcome my fear.

11. Where do you see yourself in five years? 

  • This question is designed to assess your goal-oriented and ambitious nature. Be sure to have a career goal ready.

12. What motivates you?

13. What are your salary expectations?

  • This is a stressful question because if you ask for too much, you will not get the job, and if you ask for too little, they will happily underpay you.
  • Be sure to research salary expectations for your role before the interview. Plenty of sites discuss salary ranges.
  • Ask about the salary range if you don’t know what to say. Then, counter with the high end of the range.
  • Note most entry-level jobs will pay minimum wage.

14. Why is there a gap in your resume?

  • The best approach when answering this question is to be honest. Being truthful about your situation gives the employer a sense of your integrity and confidence.

15. How would you define excellent customer service?

  • The customer is not waiting long for their order.
  • Customers receive friendly service.
  • The restaurant is clean both inside and outside.
  • The product is made to order.

16. How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • Listen and let the customer vent.
  • Show the customer you care.
  • Don’t blame the customer or the company.
  • Try to solve the problem or find someone who can.
  • Don’t make promises you can’t keep.
  • Finally, one must not take it personally.  If you get upset, you will take it out on future customers.

What to wear to a Subway Interview?

  • If you are interviewing for an entry-level position, dress in business casual attire; otherwise, dress formally.
  • Try incorporating the colors green, white, and yellow into your wear.
  • You will want to look like someone who can serve food, so if you have long hair, wear it back, wear a minimal amount of jewelry, and trim any facial hair.
