- Discuss any previous customer service experience you have had where you helped a customer find a specific product. When describing how you found the product, be sure to mention that you walked the customer over to the item they were looking for instead of just pointing them in a general direction.
8. In a retail environment, there may be instances where you need to confront a suspicious individual or handle a security incident. How do you approach these situations while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor?
- You approach the customer in a nonconfrontational tone and ask them to come with you to the security office. You make sure to approach the suspicious individual when it is safe, meaning you minimize the risk of harming other customers and maximizing their safety.
- Next, you state the incident or incidents in question.
- If the person in question becomes angry at you, you remind yourself not to take it personally.
- Finally, you take action to resolve the incident.
9. Retail stores often rely on surveillance systems to monitor activities and deter theft. Can you discuss your experience in managing and operating surveillance equipment?

- Most jobs in retail security will require you to work on your feet for long periods. If possible tell the interviewer you do not have a problem with this. Wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes with low heels, maintain good posture, and stay hydrated.
