Zaxby’s Interview Questions and Answers
1. Can you tell us about yourself?
- Discussing your hobbies and interests is okay, but keep it brief. Focus on relevant work experience. Remember that having relevant work experience will put you ahead of the competition.
2. Why do you want to work for Zaxby’s?
- Say you like the product and the service you get and would be proud to work at Zaxby’s.
- Say you would enjoy the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment.
3. What is your greatest strength?
This question is an invitation to explain why you are the best-qualified candidate for this job!
The answer should be broken down into three parts
- The Strength – state the strength
- Proof of the strength – an example of how you have used this strength.
- The strength’s relevance to THIS job.
4. What is your greatest weakness?
- Do not deny you have a weakness or state a strength as a weakness. For example, do not say, “I am a perfectionist” or “I work too hard and neglect my friends and family.” State a fault required for the role but not a dealbreaker if you don’t have it.
- When stating your weakness, explain what you are doing to overcome it. For example, I have a fear of public speaking and enrolled in a public speaking class to overcome my fear.
Zaxby’s Company Information
5. What can you tell us about Zaxby’s
- Zaxby’s is a chain of restaurants offering chicken wings, chicken fingers, sandwiches, and salads.
- In addition to being known for its chicken, Zaxby’s is known for its sauce called Zax Sauce.
- Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley founded Zaxby’s in 1990 in Statesboro, GA.

DID YOU KNOW…
For years, Zach made the Zax’s Sauce himself and distributed it to various locations to keep the sacred recipe safe. When there were too many locations to keep up with, he had it manufactured, but even then, the process ensured no one single person would know the recipe from start to finish. Seriously — not even our Executive Chef knows how it is made.
6. What is Zaxby’s Mission Statement?
- Zaxby’s Mission statement is, “Consistently create encore experiences that enrich lives, one person at a time”.
Customer Service Interview Questions
7. How would you deal with an upset customer?
- Listen and let the customer vent.
- Show the customer you care.
- Don’t blame the customer or the company.
- Try to solve the problem or find someone who can.
- Don’t make promises you can’t keep.
- Finally, one must not take it personally. If you get upset, you will take it out on future customers.
8. How would you define excellent customer service?
- The customer is not waiting long for their order.
- Customers receive friendly service.
- The restaurant is clean both inside and outside.
- The product is made to order.
9. Can you tell us about a time you went above and beyond for a customer?
- Customers love it when you go above and beyond for them, which generates more business. Think of a time when you went above and beyond for a customer. For example, when I was a server at a restaurant, we didn’t have a specific dessert, but the restaurant next door did, so I got it for the customer.
- Here’s another example: Previously, I worked at a fast-food chain. There was a senior citizen at the restaurant, and he had finished his meal. The rain started, and he began to worry because he didn’t have an umbrella. Luckily, I had an umbrella, so I walked him to his car, sheltering him from the rain.
