Can you tell us about yourself?

Interviewers use this question to learn more about your background, personality, and work style. They want to hear about your experience, strengths, and why you would be a good fit for the job.

Sample Answer

“I’m a reliable and hardworking person who enjoys helping others and learning new skills. I work well in team environments and like staying busy. In school and past experiences, I’ve learned the importance of communication, responsibility, and customer service. I’m looking for an opportunity where I can grow, gain experience, and contribute positively to the team.”

What can you tell us about Lacoste?

  • They are famous for their tennis shirts, but they also sell shoes, perfume, leather goods, watches, and sunglasses.
  • René Lacoste and André Gillier founded Lacoste in 1933.

Why do you want to work for Lacoste?

  • State you love the product and service you get, and because of this, you would be happy to represent them.
  • Why not show them you like them by liking their Facebook page and mentioning a product you saw and wanted (this will show you are genuinely interested in their products)?

What is your greatest strength?

  • I am a quick learner (this is a great answer because they will have to spend less time training you)
  • I work well under pressure (this is a great answer because they will get busy on weekends, and you need to stay focused during this time)

What is your greatest weakness?

Employers ask this question to see if you are self-aware, honest, and willing to improve yourself.

Sample answer

“One weakness I have is that I can be a little nervous when starting something new. I like to do a good job, so I sometimes put pressure on myself at first. However, once I learn the job and get comfortable, I become more confident and work well with others. I also try to ask questions and learn from feedback so I can improve.”

How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • I would find out what is wrong with the customer. If it was the product, I would offer to replace it (mentioning that I would check with my manager first). It is important to keep the customer happy, as an unhappy customer will never return.
  • Research Lacoste’s return policy and mention it during the interview, as it may help address the upset customer.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

  • If going to college or university, state what you would like to be doing after you finish.
  • A career in fashion would align with their business objectives.

Can you tell me about a time you worked as part of a team to reach a goal?

✅ Lacoste values collaboration, especially in a retail setting where team members rely on each other to keep the store running smoothly. This question helps the interviewer see how well you work with others.

💡 Tip: Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to explain your answer. Focus on clear communication, shared responsibility, and how your contribution helped the team succeed.

🗣 Sample Answer:

“At my previous retail job, our team had to set up a new seasonal display overnight. I helped plan how we’d divide the work, supported a teammate who was new, and made sure we stayed on schedule. We finished on time, and our manager praised the display as one of the best we’d done.”

Questions to ask on a Lacoste Interview?

  • What do you like best about working here?
  • How do you describe your ideal candidate for this position?
  • What about this position is the most important?
  • How do you measure my success, and what could I do to meet your expectations?
  • Which part of the position has the steepest learning curve? What can I do to get up to speed quickly?

What to wear at a Lacoste Interview?

  • Since Lacoste is a high-end clothing store, you will be judged on your style and dress.  My advice is to visit a store and observe how others dress, and then dress one step above them.  It is not necessary to buy their products.
